Minerals in Alkaline Water.( Missing in RO / Bottle Water)
RO (Reverse Osmosis) may clean water, but it also removes vital minerals like calcium and magnesium, leaving it nutritionally empty. The water often turns acidic, which can disturb the body’s pH balance. In many cases, RO produces water with TDS as low as 0–10, similar to distilled or “hungry water,” which lacks minerals and may even leach them from the body, making it less healthy for long-term use.
Disadvantages of RO Water
- Acidic Nature – RO water often has a low pH, making it acidic and harmful for long-term consumption.
- Strips Away Minerals – The purification process removes essential minerals like calcium and magnesium, leaving water nutritionally empty.
- Hungry Water – Many RO systems show TDS levels of 0–10, which is almost like distilled water. This “hungry water” lacks minerals and can negatively impact health.
What is Hungry Water?
Hungry water refers to RO or distilled water with extremely low TDS (0–10 ppm). Because it lacks minerals, it tries to balance itself by leaching minerals from the body, which weakens bones and teeth. It also damages healthy cells due to its oxidizing nature. Since it has no natural vitality, the body spends more energy digesting it, often leading to fatigue, low stamina, and sluggishness. Over time, drinking hungry water can disturb mineral balance, reduce immunity, and negatively affect overall health.
Minerals in Alkaline Water
Calcium is important for strong bones and healthy teeth. It also plays an important role in avoiding blood clotting, cell growth and production of hormones
Magnesium.Magnesium is needed for strong bones, for energy metabolism and
structure and functioning of muscles. Magnesium is responsible for more than 300 functions in our body directly effecting brain function, neurology functions. heart, kidneys, liver, stomach, pancreas, reproductive system - specially in females (particularly in infertility cases)
Deficiency of Magnesium is cause of CANCER and many other health problems.
Sodium This mineral is essential for balance in your fluid balance. Also blood pressure is regulated by this mineral. Overall, sodium is found in large quantities in our food. Sodium is in fact one of the main constituents of salt
Potassium has a role in regulation of fluid balance and blood pressure. It is responsible for blood sugar level and the conduction of nerve impulses.
Phosphorus This mineral helps with endurance and can counteract fatigue. It plays a role in the conversion of sugar to energy.
In addition to above mentioned minerals, Alkaline water contains a variety of trace elements. Trace elements are minerals required by body in small quantities.
Copper is necessary for the formation of connective tissue and bone tissue. It also plays a role in blood clotting and the functioning of the immune system.
Iron. Iron is very important for the production of blood cells and the transport of oxygen. This is the reason that you have to take iron supplements if you suffer from anemia. Besides iron is involved in various metabolic processes
Selenium Selenium is an antioxidant that protects cells from damage. It is also important for proper functioning of the thyroid gland
Chromium This trace element assist in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy. Also plays a role in the uptake of insulin into your cells.
Zinc is essential for the synthesis of proteins and the growth of tissue. Moreover, zinc plays an important role in your metabolism and functioning of your immune system.
NATURAL (uncontaminated) Water contains both Alkaline minerals & elements and Acidic elements- this natural balance makes water marginally Alkaline. However in certain natural water sources like mountains rivers &waterfalls, lakes, (isolated from pollution of any kind) there is higher content of Alkaline minerals elements & Acidic elements are negligible. The water from such sources is Alkaline having 8 to 9pH. Hence any one residing or going to hill stations enjoys drinking the NATURAL ALKALINE WATER there.
Alkaline water from Water lonizer is 95 to 98% same as Alkaline water in mountains.
Essential Minerals that may be found in Alkaline Water
- Calcium-Ca Magnesium
- Iron Fe
- Sodium Na
- Increases energy levels.
- Zinc-Zn
- Copper Cu or Cu
- Potassium K
- Molybdenum Mo
- Manganese Mn
Are there enough minerals in the water to meet my daily needs?
Alkaline water supplied by an ionizer will contain small amounts of each of the above minerals if they are in your source water. You won't get the full US Recommended Daily Intake of minerals like calcium, magnesium, but you will get useful amounts of them. However if they are found in your source water-you can get enough of the recommended trace minerals listed above. One of those minerals-manganese- is a very powerful antioxidant, and you only need a tiny amount!
Manganese-The Antioxidant Mineral in Alkaline Water
One of the essential dietary trace minerals sometimes found in water is manganese You only need tiny amounts of manganese daily. The manganese ion is medically-recognized as essential for detoxification of free radicals.
How can I find out what minerals are in my water?
The best source of information about minerals found in your water is your local municipal water report. Life lonizers will provide you with an easy-to-read analysis of your local water report for free. Most water supplies in the United States are considered to be "hard" which means that those water supplies will have an abundance of minerals.
